In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the MacLaren Art Centre and New Path Youth and Family Services invite families to special art workshops at Barrie Public Library.

Guided by MacLaren art instructor Marjorie Dale, participants will explore shapes and symbols—and incorporate the colour green— to create a vibrant painting that visually represents themes of growth, hope and transformation.

The artwork created will be part of a group exhibition at the MacLaren’s PIE Education Centre in May. All are welcome to celebrate at the opening reception for this exhibition on Saturday, May 2 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the MacLaren Art Centre.

These workshops are ideal for families with children ages 6 and up.

Celebrate Earth Day at the Simcoe County Museum as we explore the incredible forces that power our planet: earth, sun, wind, and water. This year’s theme, Our Power, Our Planet, invites visitors of all ages to discover how renewable energy can help create a cleaner, more sustainable future.  

From hands-on experiments to engaging facts and demonstrations, guests will learn how natural energy sources can reduce our carbon footprint and inspire new ways of thinking about power. Whether you’re curious about solar energy, fascinated by wind power, or interested in how water and the earth itself generate energy, there’s something for everyone to explore. 

Join us for a day of discovery, inspiration, and planet-friendly fun!

The teachers at Uptempo Barrie, believe that dance is for everyone. They strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where students can learn and grow in a supportive community.

Dance is more than a skill or exercise - it is personal growth. It teaches us life skills like patience, practice, communication, connection, confidence, and so much more! Highly qualified teachers instruct students in hip hop, contemporary, swing, latin styles and much more.

They even have Dance Daycamp where your kids will enjoy learning short lessons in a variety of dance styles including: salsa, ballet, line dancing, hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, and line dancing! Classes will be held from 9 am to 4 pm with optional after-camp care from 4-5 pm (for an additional charge of $50 per child). Friday evening at 6:00 pm the kids will perform what they have learned for their families in a mini-recital format.
