🍁 🍂 🌞 Family Fall Adventure @ Ardagh Bluffs

With colder weather arriving and fall colours setting in, the coming few weeks are the perfect time to get active and take the family on an adventure to soak up fall and explore Barrie’s trails. For the next few weeks we will feature a family friendly local trail to help you enjoy fall nature in and around the city.

This week’s featured trail is Ardagh Bluffs Nature Reserve. With over 17 kilometers of trails, it’s the perfect spot to explore with the family this weekend.

Whether you are looking to just spend some time in nature, or go for a serious family hike, Ardagh Bluffs has you covered. There are several marked trails for you to explore:

  • West Creek Trail - 2.2 Km

  • Ardagh Ring Trail - 5 Km

  • Central Creek Trail - 1.9 Km

  • East Creek Trail - 1.3km

🚗 There is a lot of parking at the community centre at 171 Mapleton Ave across from the central creek trailhead. All other access points have street parking.

🍎 Apple picking @ Barrie Hill Farms

Just 10 minutes outside of Barrie, Barrie Hill Farms is a great spot to enjoy everything the fall harvest season has to offer. Take a scenic wagon ride out to the apple orchard where you can pick-your-own farm fresh apples!

This weekend Sunrise, McIntosh, Zestar, Cortland Empire, Ida Red, Ambrosia and Honey Crisp will be available to pick. PYO apples are $2.29/lb, and there is a minimum $8 spend per person.

Don’t forget to make a stop at the Farm Market and pick-up a fresh baked apple pie, or their Silo Cafe and try farm favourite apple cider donuts, a fresh pressed hot apple cider or a warm waffle topped with apple pie topping!

Barrie Hill Farms is open this Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9 am to 5 pm. Learn more at the Barrie Hill Farms website.
